Carbon Monoxide

Carbon Monoxide

November 23rd, 2022, Sioux Falls, SD –

Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a colorlessodorlesstasteless, and highly reactive gas formed from the incomplete combustion of fuels such as natural gas, liquefied propane (LP) gas, kerosene, oil, gasoline, wood, or coal. Examples of commonly found applications where CO can be found are residential and vehicle exhaust.

Carbon Monoxide detection is crucial because it is known as the “silent killer” due to the gas being colorless and odorless. CO is a toxic gas comprised of carbon and oxygen molecules. When exposed to CO, the CO molecules will displace the oxygen in the body, leading to poisoning.

Effects of CO

The main symptoms of Carbon Monoxide poisoning are headachedizzinessweaknessconfusion, and nausea. CO symptoms are often described as “flu-like” because they have many similarities.

There are many fatal deaths linked to Carbon Monoxide poisoning each year. One way to prevent CO poisoning is by installing a CO detector in your home. Macurco’s CM-E1 and CM-6 are the most popular products that we offer to protect from CO.

The Macurco CM-E1 residential is a reliable, lightweight, and aesthetically pleasing gas detector made to keep you and the people you care about safe from harmful gases in residential and light commercial applications. It is a low-voltage gas detector designed for use with fire and security systems.

The CM-6 (CO)  monitor detects Carbon Monoxide (CO) in commercial facilities such as parking garagesboiler rooms, etc. It can be used as a stand-alone detector and controller and as an analog transducer for use with Macurco control panels and other systems.
